The 27th International Universiade wrestling matches continue in Kazan, Russia.

According to the program, female wrestlers in 55, 59 and 67 kg weight categories competed on the fourth day of the tournament. Our wrestlers completed the day with 1 gold medal.

51 kg
The first match against Japan’s Hikari Sugavara was very unsuccessful for Angela Dorogan. However, she received a second life to compete for the bronze medal, once her rival reached the final. Having won against Canada’s Diana Ford in the repechage, our wrestler joined the bronze medal match. However, Angela Dorogan lost this bout and completed the Universiade on the fifth place.

59 kg
Yuliya Ratkevich
vanquished all her opponents in the tournament. In 1/8 final she won over Mongolia’s Munkhtuya Tungalag, in ¼ final Kyrgyzstan’s Aysulu Tinibekova and in semifinal she won against Russia’s Jargalma Tsirenova. In the final match she competed against the wrestler from the USA Alison Ragan. Having won against her with great superiority, our wrestler won the gold medal of the Universiade and became a champion.

67 kg
Natalia Palamarchuk joined the competition from ¼ final and scored a victory against Belorussia’s Hanna Savenia. Our wrestler lost to the Japanese sportswoman Sara Dosho in the semifinal and competed against Canada’s Stas Anaka for the bronze medal. However, she was unsuccessful and Natalia finished the Universiade on the fifth place.

We would like to remind that our wrestlers won 1 silver and 1 bronze medal on the first day of female wrestling matches.
