The wrestling matches within the 2nd Youth Olympics have started. The young girls competed on the second day of the competition.

We would like to inform our readers that the wrestlers compete in rounds in two subgroups in each wrestling category. The firsts of the subgroups then wrestle in the final round and the seconds are to compete for the bronze medal.

Our representative in 52 kg weight class Leyla Gurbanova fought in the same subgroup with wrestlers from Canada, Ukraine and Salvador. Having won against all her rivals, our sportswoman found herself in the final round. This time she had to wrestle against the Japanese wrestler. The intense bout finished in her rival’s favor. Thus Leyla Gurbanova became the silver medalist of the Olympics.

1st round – Tianna Kennet (CAN) – Leyla Gurbanova 0:10
2nd round – Olena Kremzer (UKR) – Leyla Gurbanova 1:2
3rd round – Aparicio Vasquez (ESA) – Leyla Gurbanova 0:6 (victory by fall)

FINAL – Leyla Gurbanova – Mayu Mukaida (JPN) 3:9

Our young Greco-Roman wrestlers competed on the first day of the wrestling matches at the 2nd Youth Olympics and brought home 1 gold and 1 silver medal. Islambek Dadov (69 kg) won a gold medal and Jabbar Najafov (50 kg) brought back a silver.
