The Senior World Wrestling Championship has finished in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan.

Our wrestler Rasul Chunayev won a bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling on the last day of the championship and won against his Armenian rival in 23 seconds with great superiority. He then did a peculiar victory march. Rasul Chunayev shared his impressions with the tournament and said that he had to win against his Armenian rival as a soldier:

“This was not my first match against him. We had wrestled before at the World Cup in Teheran and I had won with a score 9:0. I wasn’t a soldier a then. But now I had to win against an Armenian rival as a true soldier. I came to this tournament to win the champion’s title. However, there were certain obstacles. I was called to serve in the military after the Final Golden Grand Prix international tournament. That is why I could join the training only a week before the World Championship. I could not fully restore my strength after the second match, they called me for the match against the Turkish sportsman ahead of time, so I lost. I lost in the final round in the European Championship and in the semifinal this time. I have to work even harder to become the world champion next year.”
