CWC-2013 first day: Mikayil Rahmanov won a gold medal / PHOTO

The World Wrestling Cadet Championship started in Zrenjanin, Serbia. The Greco-Roman wrestlers in 50, 54, 58, 63 and 100 kg categories competed on the first day of the championship. Our wrestlers completed the day with 1 gold medal.

50 kg
Mikayil Rahmanov
consequently won against South African (8:0), Bulgarian (7:0, victory by fall), Russian (6:5) and Uzbek (6:4) wrestlers and reached the final, where he scored a victory against the Ukrainian sportsman (8:0) and became the world champion.

54 kg
Niyazi Mammadov lost his very first match and had to leave the tournament.

58 kg
Zahid Alekberzadeh
started off with a victory by fall against the Indian representative (3:0), however he then lost to his Ukrainian competitor (1:4). Our wrestler joined the repechages, as his rival reached the final. Having won against the Serbian sportsman (9:4), Zahid competed for the bronze medal against the Hungarian wrestler. He ranked fifth.

63 kg
Despite having lost his first match to the Russian wrestler, Sanan Alimirzayev received second life to compete in the repechages, as his rival reached all the way to the final. Sanan won his first repechage against the Hungarian wrestler (10:2), but he lost his following bout to the Kyrgyz sportsman.

100 kg
Adambek Shidukov
, our representative in the heaviest weight category, won against the wrestlers from Belarus (2:1) and Armenia (4:4*), however he then lost to his Georgian rival. Adambek Shidukov joined the repechage matches, as his Georgian rival reached the final. However, our wrestler could not take advantage of this chance and lost to the Bulgarian sportsman.
