JWC-2013 fifth day: Ahmednabi won a gold, Bakhtiyar won a bronze medal / PHOTO

The Junior World Wrestling Championship continues in Sofia, Bulgaria. The freestyle wrestlers in 50, 60, 74 and 96 kg categories competed on the fifth day of the championship. Our wrestlers completed the day with 1 gold and 1 bronze medal.

50 kg
Ruslan Gasimov started off from 1/8 final and won against the USA’s Ethan Lisac (11:4). However, he then lost to Bulgaria’s Mehmed Zeyti Feraim.

60 kg
Ahmednabi Gvarzatilov
joined the tournament in 1/16 final and scored a confident victory against the Armenian wrestler Ashot Velitsyan (7:0). He then won against Iran’s Farzad Kovland (12:5) and reached the ¼ final, where he gave no chance to Georgia’s Shota Partenadzeh (10:1). In the semifinal he won against the Ukrainian sportsman Andrei Sivrid (14:3) and reached the final. This time he scored a brilliant victory against Mongolia’s Nomin Batbold (15:7) and became the owner of the gold medal.

74 kg
Bakhtiyar Israfilli
won against Moldova’s Ion Vasilach (8:6) in the 1/16 final. In the 1/8 final our wrestler competed against USA’s Alexander David Dieringer. The American wrestler won after a tense match (11:12). Bakhtiyar joined the repechages and consequently won against Georgia’s Lasha Gigashvili (13:5) and Uzbekistan’s Tekhron Khojiyev (3:0). Bakhtiyar then scored a victory against the Romanian wrestler George Bodisteanu (8:1) in the decisive match for the medal and became the bronze winner of the championship.

96 kg
Haji Sharifov joined the championship in 1/16 final, however he could not win against Ukraine’s Murazi Mchelidzeh (9:5).
