1 silver and 4 bronze medals on the second day of the Paris Grand Prix

The second international Grand Prix wrestling tournament has finished in Paris, capital of France. All three of our national wrestling teams participated in the tournament.

On the second day of the tournament we found out winners among women wrestlers in 53, 58, 63 and 75 kg classes, Greco-Roman wrestlers in 59, 75, 85 and 130 kg categories and freestylers in 61, 70, 86 and 125 kg weight classes.

Our girls completed the day with 1 bronze medal. Irina Netreba, 58 kg, won against the Polish wrestler in the bronze medal match.

Our Greco-Roman wrestlers won 2 bronze medals on the second day of the tournament. Murad Mammadov (59 kg) won against wrestlers from Kazakhstan and Poland, but then lost to the French sportsman in the semifinal. Our wrestler won against the Israeli representative in the bronze medal match and ranked third in the tournament. Islam Abbasov (85 kg) as well won the decisive match against the Greek wrestler and became the bronze medalist of the tournament.

Our freestylers won 1 silver and 1 bronze medal in the second day of the tournament. Our representative in the heaviest weight class Jamaladdin Mohammedov (125 kg) reached the final confidently. He consequently won against rivals from Hungary, the USA and Poland. However, he then lost to the Ukrainian representative in the final bout and had to do with a silver medal. Our wrestler in 70 kg category, Ruslan Dibirhajiyev, started off with a loss, however received a second chance for the bronze, as his rival reached the final. Our wrestler scored a victory against the US representative in the decisive bout and became the owner of the bronze medal.

Our wrestlers overall won 1 silver and 4 bronze medals on the second competition day. Our teams had scored 9 medals (3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze) the previous day.

Our freestylers won 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals and came in first in team rankings.

Our Greco-Roman wrestlers scored 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals. This result allowed them to rank second in the team rankings.

And our girls completed the tournament with 2 silver and 1 bronze medal. Thus, they ranked 6th.
