The Cadet European Champion will open with freestyle wrestling matches

The Cadet Wrestling European Championship will start in Samokov, Bulgaria, on 6 May. All 3 of our national wrestling teams will join the tournament.

According to the program of the championship, freestylers will wrestle on 6-7 May and cadet girls will compete on 8-9 May. And finally the Greco-Roman wrestlers will join the tournament on 10-11 May.

Our freestyle wrestling team includes Intigam Velizadeh (42 kg), Elvin Namazov (46 kg), Afgan Khashalov (50 kg), Mahir Amiraslanov (54 kg), Panah Ilyasli (58 kg), Teymur Mammadov (63 kg), Ravil Babazadeh (69 kg), Hajimurad Mohammedsaidov (76 kg), Shamil Sadullayev (85 kg) and Igbal Hajizadeh (100 kg). The team will be headed by Senior Coach Asgarkhan Novruzov and Coach Rovshan Hajiyev.

Our female wrestlers will leave for Bulgaria headed by coaches Hasrat Mammadyarov and Arif Farmanov. The team includes Ulkar Babayeva (43 kg), Turkan Nasirova (46 kg), Tatiana Vorontsova (49 kg), Leyla Gurbanova (52 kg), Laman Gurbanova (56 kg) and Anita Kalantarova (70 kg).

And the members of the Greco-Roman wrestling team are to be announced soon.

International referees Sadi Guliyev and Intigam Aliyev will represent our country as judges at the tournament. The referees, who will judge during the Nanjing Olympics, will also be announced during the European Championship.

This championship will issue licenses for the 2nd Cadet Olympic Games to be held in Nanjing, China, on 25-27 August. The licenses will be given to girls in 46, 52, 60 and 70 kg classes, to freestylers in 46, 54, 63, 76 and 100 kg weight categories and to Greco-Roman wrestlers in 42, 50, 58, 69 and 85 kg weight classes. We would like to remind our readers that each country can be represented by maximum 5 wrestlers (2 freestyle, 2 Greco-Roman and 1 female) at the Olympics.
