Greco-Roman wresters ranked 3rd with 3 gold medals in team placing

The Junior European Wrestling Championship has finished in Katowice, Poland. Overall our wrestlers won 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

The freestyle wrestlers joined the tournament first and won 1 gold and 1 silver medal. Nurmohammed Hajiyev (84 kg) won against all his rivals and became the gold medalist. Murad Suleymanov (66 kg) on the other hand came back with a silver medal. Our national team ranked 5th in team placing.

Our junior female wrestlers won 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. Elmira Gambarova (63 kg) lost only the final bout and became the silver medalist. Turkan Nasirova (44 kg) and Ragnetta Gurbanzadeh (67 kg) won a bronze medal each. With this result, our team ranked 5th.

The Greco-Roman wrestlers joined the competition on the last two days of the championships and won 3 gold medals. Ibrahim Nurullayev (50 kg), Murad Mammadov (55 kg) and Islam Abbasov (84 kg) won against all their rivals and won the highest prize of the championship. With total of 45 points, our team ranked 3rd in team placing after Russia and Georgia.
