JEC-2014 Day 5: Ibrahim Nurullayev became European Champion / VIDEO

The Junior European Wrestling Championship continues in Katowice, Poland.

The Greco-Roman wrestlers in 50, 60, 74 and 96 kg weight classes joined the competition on the fifth day of the championship. Our wrestlers completed the day with 1 gold medal.

In 50 kg category Ibrahim Nurullayev reached the final round confidently. On the way to the final he consequently won against wrestlers from Bulgaria, Poland and Russia. His rival in the decisive match was the wrestler from Romania. Scoring another victory, Ibrahim became the European Champion.

Our representative in 96 kg weight class Orkhan Nuriyev started off with a victory against his Hungarian rival, but then lost to the sportsman from Norway. As his rival reached the final, Orkhan fought in a repechage match against the Turkish wrestler. Scoring a victory, Orkhan Nuriyev then wrestled against the Georgian representative for a bronze medal. However, this match was not successful for our sportsman and Orkhan Nuriyev ranked fifth in the European Championship.
