The opening ceremony of the final stage of “Golden Grand Prix” international tournament was held / PHOTO

Today in Baku Sport Hall was held official opening ceremony of the final stage of the international wrestling tournament “Golden Grand Prix” dedicated to the memory of the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev. First was conducted concert program with the attendance of art masters. Afterwards flags of participant countries were brought to the arena.

Taking a speech at the event the Secretary-General of the United World Wrestling Michel Dusson expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan government for organizing this tournament on the high level and created conditions to sportsmen. He said that this tournament is one of the strongest competitions in the fixture plan of the United World Wrestling.

“I congratulate all wrestlers coming here from all continents to test their hand in the condition of friendship, brotherhood and mutual respect. This high level competition as one of the preparations leading to the Rio Olympic Games to be held in August of 2016. And organization of this tournament on the high level says about dynamic development of Azerbaian Wrestling Federation”.

Then taking a speech the 1st vice-president of Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, member of Executive Committee of United World Wrestling Namig Aliyev express his gratitude to the governance of United World Wrestling for trusting organization of this prestigious tournament to Azerbaijan for 8th time in a row. Official of AWF stated that due to attention and caress by the head of the state, the president of National Olympic Committee Ilham Aliyev in recent years Azerbaijan turned to one of the sport centers of the world:

“It’s result of purposeful policy conducting by state governance that Azerbaijan being recognizing in the world as sport country earlier hosted first time ever in the history European Games. Organization and conducting this prestigious international sport event was highly prized by world sport society, guests and participants. Our athletes continuing achievements gaining on London Summer Olympic Games” with gaining 6 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze medals made happy all our people. Last month on the Olympic qualifying WC taking place in Las Vegas, USA our wrestlers gained 11 Olympic licensees. Gaining all of these successes is the obvious example of entire prosperity of Azerbaijan development of wrestling sport discipline at a growing rate. 31st Summer Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil are waiting for us ahead. Our aim at these Games is gaining medals of the highest criterion to rise our flag and sound the anthem”.

Wishing participants of the competition successes the 1st vice-president of AWF, member of Executive Committee of UWW Namig Aliyev declared the tournament opened. With playing the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan the festive opening ceremony of the tournament come to the end.

Afterwards the honorable guest of the final stage of “Gold Grand Prix” international wrestling tournament dedicated to the memory of the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev the prime-minister of Dagestan Republic, the president of Dagestan Wrestling Federation Abdusamad Hamdov for the merits in development of the thorough cooperation between Dagestan and Azerbaijan and friendly relations between two people presented to the name of the president of Azerbajan Wrestling Federation Mr. Fazil Mammadov honorable diploma. Diploma was received by the 1st vice-president of AWF Namig Aliyev. For the merits in wrestling development the Secretary-General of UWW Michel Dusson presented to the prime-minister of Dagestan Republic, the president of Dagestan Wrestling Federation Abdusamad Hamdov memorable package of UWW and the official of AWF memorable present of the competition.
