Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation held event dedicated to the results of the 2015 year. The best sportsmen gaining achievements during a year were awarded.

First of all Ajdar Djafarov greeting participants on behalf of the governance of the federation congratulated our people with upcoming New Year and solidarity day of world azerbaijanies. The Secretary-General of the federation saying that expiring year was very significant for Azerbaijani sport stressed that Azerbaijan conducted 1^st European Games on the high level. It was stated that this year was successful for our wrestlers as well. Greco-roman team first time in the history became winner of World Cup, at the European Games were gained 15 medals and at world championship were got 11 licensees to Olympic Games. Completing last year with 294 medals this year our athletes with gaining 328 medals made happy sport lovers.

“For sure gaining all these successes is the result of the care to the sport as well as to the wrestling by the president of National Olympic Committee Mr.Ilham Aliyev. Carefully following our performance and constantly support by the head of the state us more increase our responsibility. From year to year number of our successes is increasing. 2016 year is very important to us as Summer Olympic Games are waiting for us ahead. The president of Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation Mr. Fazil Mammadov set wrestlers a task in Rio-de-Janeiro at least to repeat success of London Olympiad and made happy our people with bigger wins. The preparation plan is already known. Wrestlers continue under constant supervision of the 1^st vice-president of the federation, member of management boarding of the United World Wrestling Namig Aliyev. I’m sure our labour we will bear fruits and in return to the high condition created by the federation governance our sportsmen will make happy our people with new big wins”.

Then for the achievements gaining during a year were announced winners in nominations “sportsman of the year”, “coach of the year” and “referee of the year”. “Sportsman of the year” in Greco-roman wrestling was elected winner of the European Games and World championship Rasul Chunayev. In the above mentioned nomination in freestyle wrestling was elected twofold world champion Hadji Aliyev. “Sportsman of the year” in female wrestling was elected skipper of female wrestling national team Maria Stadnik. As “coach of the year” was awarded the head coach of Greco-roman wrestling national team Djamshid Heyrabadi. And finally “referee of the year” was elected international category referee Asif Shiraliyev. After awarding ceremony the event was continued with concert program.
