JWC-2014: Ragnetta Gurbanzadeh won a bronze medal / PHOTO

The Junior World Wrestling Championship continues in Zagreb, Croatia.

The young girls in 44, 51, 59 and 67 kg weight classes joined the competition on the third day of the tournament. Our wrestlers were represented in 3 categories and finished the day with 1 bronze medal.

In 67 kg category Ragnetta Gurbanzadeh held her first bout against the Japanese wrestler. The match was not successful for our sportswoman; however Ragnetta received second chance to join the repechages, as her rival reached the final round. She won against the Bulgarian wrestler and got the right to fight for the bronze medal. Scoring a victory against the Swedish representative in the decisive match, our wrestler became the bronze medalist of the championship.

Bronze medal match Ragnetta Gurbanzadeh – Moa Nigren (SWE) 8:4

We would like to remind our readers that our Greco-Roman wrestlers competed on the first two days of the championship. They overall won 5 gold and 1 silver medals and opened a new page in the wrestling history of Azerbaijan. Having scored 59 points, they also came in first in the World in team rankings.
