International freestyle wrestling tournament to the honour of the world champion Oleg Krapivin was held in Shamakhi Olympic Sport Complex. Before the kick-off of the competition members of the Organizational Committee paying a visit to the monument of the nationwide leader located in Heydar Aliyev park in Shamakhi respectfully honoured memory of the great leader.

Later on was held opening ceremony of the tournament. Taking a speech at the ceremony officials of Shamakhi Executive Authority, Ministry of Youth and Sport and Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation noted importance of the tournament being conducted with the initiative of our compatriot, head of the Kiev city organization of the Congress of Ukrainian Azerbaijanis Oleg Krapivin and talked about increasing of competition skill of young wrestlers and development services to Ukraine-Azerbaijan friendly ties. Speakers also stressed that traditional international tournament to the memory of the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev organizing with the assistance of Oleg Krapivin in the capital of Ukraine Kiev become more prestigious from year to year.   

Over 300 cadet sportsmen from 32 regions and cities of the Republic as well as from Ukraine attended at the 4^th in subsequent tournament. The vice-president of Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation on cadets, Olympic champion Namig Abdullayev stated that conducting such competitions in the regions serves to popularity of the wrestling:
  
“These competitions are test competitions. At such competitions wrestlers can show their ability. Moreover for several years Oleg Krapivin organizes in the capital of Ukraine Kiev international tournament to the memory of the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev as well. Our sportsmen also attend there, gain medals, rise our flag”.

Olympic champion noted that such competitions organizing in the person of wrestling veteran Oleg Krapivin is a present to sport society successfully continued by the head of the state Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

Members of coaches’ staff of the freestyle wrestling national team of Azerbaijan as well as veteran wrestlers were among viewers of this competition. On the competitions passing in tense sport struggle in 10 weighting categories representatives of Gazakh, Shamakhi, Masalli, Absheron, Agstafa, Shirvan, Astara as well as Ukrainian wrestlers took place on the highest place of the victory stand. Winners were awarded by the organizers diplomas, medals, cups and valuable presents.
