A bronze medal from the Wladislaw Pytlasinski tournament

The International Greco-Rowan Wrestling Championship dedicated to the memory of Wladislaw Pytlasinski was held in the capital of Poland, Warsaw. Our national team was represented by 3 wrestlers at the tournament and won 1 bronze medal.

In 60 kg category, Taleh Mammadovwon against Bulgaria’s Ivo Angelov (9:7) in the first match. In 1/8 final he scored a victory against Ukraine’s Andrei Chmut (8:3) and in ¼ final he won against the Kazakh sportsman Yerbol Kikbayev (4:0). In the semifinal Taleh Mammadov lost to the Polish wrestler and competed for the bronze medal. Having won over the Russian representative MingiyanSemyonov (6:1) in the decisive match, our wrestler became the bronze medalist of the tournament.

In 84 kg category Rafig Husseinov won against Spain’s Pedro Garcia in the first match. He lost his next match and received second life in the repechages. He won his first repechage against Turkey’s Selchuk Jebi, however did not manage to continue his success against the German wrestler. Rafig completed the tournament in 7th place.

In 74 kg category Shamil Eltuganov lost his first match and had to stop the tournament early.

International referee Abdul Nuriyev represented our country as a referee at the matches.
