U-23 Euro-2017: Greco-roman wrestlers become 3rd in team classification / PHOTO

U-23 European championships taking place in Szombathely, Hungary has finished.

Our wrestlers completed championships gaining overall 5 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze medals.

In the first two days competed freestyle wrestlers. Members of our team gained 2 gold and 3 bronze medals. Teymur Mammadov (63 kg) and Gadjimurad Omarov (70 kg) gained gold medals. Ali Rahimzade (61 kg), Ismayil Abdullayev (74 kg) and Kanan Aliyev (86 kg) become bronze medalists. In team classification our team after Russia, Georgia and Turkey located on the 4th place.

Female wrestlers completed Euro gaining 1 silver and 1 bronze medal. Leyla Gurbanova (53 kg) runner up and Alyona Kolesnik (58 kg) become bronze medalist of the competitions. In team classification our female wrestlers finished on the 7th place.

Greco-roman wrestlers competed in the last two days completed competitions gaining 3 gold and 1 bronze medal. Gold medals to our team brought Murad Mammadov (59 kg), Islambek Dadov (71 kg) and Orkhan Nuriyev (98 kg). Bronze medal in the account of Elting Vezirzade competing in 80 kg weighting category.

With this result our team with 42 points located on the 3rd place in team classification. Georgia with 47 points first, Russia on the second place with 45 points.

Due to quality of the medal our wrestlers with 3 gold medals completed European championships on the 1st place. Sweden with 2 medals second, Turkey, Hungary and Poland team gained 1 gold medal on each.

For information we would like to remind that neither Russian nor Georgian team manage to gain gold medal of the championships.
