The European Junior Wrestling Championship continues in Skopje, Macedonia.

Junior female wrestlers in 48, 55, 63 and 72 kg categories joined the competition on the fourth day of the championship. Our girls completed the day with one more gold medal.

48 kg
Kamala Aliyeva
competed against the Hungarian wrestler Mercedes Denez in the first math. After an intense match (6:6), the victory was given to the rivaling sportswoman. Thus, our wrestler had to leave the competition early.

55 kg
Yarina Dubovska
wrestled against the Swedish wrestler Emma Karlsson in the first match. Our representative easily won against her and reached the ¼ final. This time she had to compete against the Ukrainian wrestler Skoblyuk. Even if our wrestler lost in this match, she received another chance to join the repechage round, as her rival reached the final. This time having scored a victory against the French wrestler Emily Dufur (9:2), Yarina Dubovska competed for the bronze medal. Her competition in the decisive match was the Bulgarian wrestler Evelina Nikolova, however our wrestler could not take advantage of this opportunity.

63 kg
Daria Korin
wrestled against the Norwich wrestler Signe Store. However, this match turned out to be unlucky for our sportswoman and she had to complete the championship without a medal.

72 kg
Sabira Aliyeva
joined the tournament from ¼ final, where she won against the Ukrainian wrestler Lyudmila Tichina (9:1) and reached the semifinal. This time she competed against the Polish wrestler Anna Urbanovich and won easily against her. In the final round, Sabira had to wrestle against the Hungarian wrestler Zsanet Nemeth. After a 1 minute 8 second-long-match, Sabira won with the absolute advantage (5:0) and became the European Champion and the proud owner of the gold medal.

We would like to remind that our young girls completed the previous day with 1 gold medal.

Overall our junior girls brought home 2 gold medals from the European Championship and ranked fourth according to team results. We should note that the Azerbaijani junior female wrestling team was the only team to win 2 gold medals. Other teams managed to win 1 gold medal only.
