EC-2013 second day: Our freestyle wrestling team became the European Champion / UPDATED

The Cadet European Wrestling Championship continues in Bar, Montenegro.

Fazil Hasanov (46 kg), Vurghun Aliyev (54 kg), Teymur Mammadov (63 kg), Shamil Sadullayev (76 kg) and Igbal Hajizadeh (100 kg) joined the matches on the second day of the championship.

In 63 kg category Teymur Mammadov consequently won against all his rivals and reached the finals. On the way to the final match, Teymur won against Slovakian, Romanian, Armenian and Turkish wrestlers and competed against the Russian sportsman in the finals. Teymur gave no chances to this rival and won the gold medal of the championship.

Our representative in 76 kg category, Shamil Sadullayev, won against his Armenian rival in the first match. However, he could not continue his success until the end. Our representative lost in the semi-finals. Nonetheless, he won against the Polish wrestler in the bronze medal match and became a bronze medalist of the tournament.

Both Fazil Hasanov (46 kg) and Vurghun Aliyev (54 kg) reached the semi-finals without any obstacles. Both our representatives competed for the bronze medal. Fazil Hasanov competed against the German wrestler, Vurghun Aliyev against the Bulgarian sportsman and both of them won a bronze medal each.

46 kg, Bronze medal match
Tim Scherer (GER) – Fazil Hasanov (2:6, 0:2)

54 kg, Bronze medal match
Dimitar Lyubomirov Ivanov (BUL) – Vurghun Aliyev (0:4, 2:4)

76 kg, Bronze medal match
Christophe Sadovik (POL) – Shamil Sadullayev (0:4, 0:4)

Thus, our cadet freestyle wrestlers won 1 gold and 3 bronze medals on the second day of the championship.

We would like to remind that on the first day of the European Championship our cadet freestyle wrestlers had won 3 gold and 1 bronze medals.

Overall, having won 4 gold and 4 bronze medals, our cadet freestyle wrestling team became the European Champion according to team results.
